Hi, my name is Mysti. No, I’m not a stripper. That is my real name.

First and foremost I’m a mom, but on the side a copywriter/editor. I’ve named lipsticks (like the ones you see in Sephora) and I’ve spun words for brands like Zagat and Banana Republic.

The title of this blog pays homage to MC Hammer, an Oakland native, and father who rose, fell and reinvented himself again.

Back in the 80s, I wanted to be Special K from the movie Breakin‘, the white girl in leg warmers who could pop-and-lock, 2-step and flare with the best of ’em. So I danced through studios and into nightclubs all around New York, and eventually found my way into the decks for a short stint. (You know…Spindarella cut it up one time!)

I still pump the jams. Mostly Pandora for my toddler Milo, and reminisce, always reminiscing on the times we had, on the times he’ll have.

This is my attempt to tell the truth about things, and capture those blips in time that would otherwise escape forever.
